FAMOUS PETS

ON: MOTHERHOOD

OSCAR WILDE Observes:

It has been said that "a boy's best friend is his mother."  I agree.  For he can borrow money from her, when he can from no other.  And she will not sue you in court when you fall into arrears... most of the time.

MARK TWAIN Remarks:

I strongly condemn Mr. Wilde's remarks on motherhood.  This hallowed state can hardly be measured in monetary terms.  That is, it can not, until the amount reaches several thousand dollars.  It depends totally on the mother in question.
